The bloodstains that have been used as the background  for this page are described as  large volume "Projected" bloodstains.  Projected bloodstains are generated when a wet blood source is subjected to a force which is greater  than the force of gravity.  These bloodstains are consistent with a large volume of blood that has been projected  under pressure e.g.  an "arterial spurt" as a result of a breached artery.
